This weekend is the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride taking place across the globe.

We're riding this weekend, are you? This Sunday, September 28th, 2014, is the global event with rides held all over the world; find one near you and participate. Dress your best, ride, donate and have fun.

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride isn't just a bunch of bearded hipsters out for a weekend ride….well, not exactly. It's a global fund raising event done in a dapper fashion, literally, and is meant to raise money and bring awareness for prostate cancer. Get yourself checked out or for female riders, encourage your dad, brother or lover to get checked.

The DGR is an excuse to dress up in the most hip of clothing and ride, while still bringing awareness to a great cause. We're excited to be a part of it and you can visit my profile here to donate,

The Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride

I had vaguely heard of the Distinguished Gentlemen's ride that's blanketed social media with photos of bearded guys in suits riding custom scramblers, vintage Triumphs and cafe bikes, but I had no idea of its massive scale. I just thought it was something a few guys here in Los Angeles did--yes, I know the globe doesn't rotate around LA--but quickly learned that it's a global event. In 2012, 2,500 riders in 64 cities across the globe took part. In 2013, that number increased to 10,000 riders and 145 cities. 2014 expects to the biggest year yet.

The DGR recently hit its goal of raising 1 million dollars! Now on their way of reaching the new 1.5 million dollar goal, they've raised 1.2 million thus far. We're attending the ride and hope to bring you coverage on our social media channels, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter as "RideApart" along with photo galleries on Monday. If you can't make it or don't want to, still consider supporting the cause.

If you're not in Los Angeles, California, this weekend (September 28th, 2014) than check out the DGR's website for a ride near you. If you're in the USA click here.

What I'll Be Riding

Moto Guzzi was cool enough to let us hang with them, riding the Moto Guzzi V7 Racer. The V7 makes 50hp and 44 ft/lbs of torque, but the low weight, hitting the scales right under 400 pounds, makes it a blast from stop light to stop light. The gearing and seating position, even with clips-ons, is surprisingly good on the highway. This is a vintage bike that Moto Guzzi has just refined over the years--without exactly updating it for the times--making for a fun bike with tons of charm and character. Perfect for this weekend's ride.

This Weekend! The Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride

"Is The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride all about Theatre? Of course it is! What is the point in dressing well if no one is there to witness? Tweed & Tarmac do not mix my lords - There are some guidelines that all rides must adhere to and this is to ensure the safety of the participants and protect all our volunteer organizers… We advise all riders to take precaution on the day, to ensure there is ample room around them and to watch out for one another as well as pedestrians because that is what being a gentle folk is all about. Caring for one another. Ride Safe, Ride Dapper" - Sir Remington Silversteed.

"My therapy is my motorcycles. I like to build them, I like to ride them, and I like to be around other people that are into them. I love the look of them and the feeling they give you when you are on the road. And I don’t really care what it is you ride. The fact you ride is good enough," excerpt from Bruce's Story. A tale of one man's fight with prostate cancer and the start of the DGR.
