KTM pulled the covers off the 2027 SX line this week, introducing nine motorcycles that span all ages and capabilities. They’re all orange, as expected, but KTM went one step further for 2027 and says it's added, “A dash of red on the tank shrouds to deepen the impact of on-track presence.”

Sure, Jan.

The hydro-formed, laser-cut, and robot-welded steel frame remains the same, but benefits from feedback provided by the company’s factory racing teams, as well as ceaseless development internally. The same can be said about the powerplants paired with the SX models, which are all equipped with EFI technology, including the two-stroke models. Additionally, all the models in the 2027 SX line meet the latest FIM and AMA sound regulations.

For the youngsters, KTM offers a complete line of “mini” motorcycles for 2027, which includes the KTM 50 SX, KTM 65 SX and KTM 85 SX. Mini SX machinery was the starting point for SuperMotocross (SMX) stars like Eli Tomac, Aaron Plessinger and Jorge Prado, as well as MXGP and MX2 Grand Prix winners Lucas and Sacha Coenen, and MX2 World Champion Simon Laengenfelder.

For the folks looking to race, the full-size 2027 SX lineup features race-derived components including WP Suspension with XACT hardware, Pankl gearboxes, Dunlop GEOMAX MX34 tires wrapped around Excel rims, Brembo clutch and brake systems, NEKEN handlebars, ODI lock-on grips and Keihin throttle bodies. These components can be found across the entire two-stroke and four-stroke motorcycle model range, which includes the 125 SX, 250 SX, 300 SX, 250 SX-F, 350 SX-F and 450 SX-F.

Oftentimes, a new model year means ‘bold new colors’ for a motorcycle brand that has no incentive to change what they currently offer. KTM has done one better, making the models available at dealers in 2027… more orange. More of what we know. More of what they are good at. I can’t say I am surprised, nor am I disappointed.

Tell us what you think!

The SX line is clean, well-equipped, and offers something for everyone, in theory. So why change anything?

Looking to get your kids into off-road riding and racing? Start small with a KTM 50 SX. Need a track tool for weekend rips at the local motocross circuit? Grab a KTM 250 SX, a bike that can also double as a trail weapon when the occasion calls for it. Serious about this racing stuff and want to be on the same bike the factory boys and girls are riding? Pick up a KTM 450 SX-F and shake off those starting gate jitters. If you’re the craftsman, KTM is your toolbag for 2027. I just hope you like orange.

The 2027 KTM SX, SX-F and mini motorcycle range will be available at authorized KTM dealers starting in the late spring of 2026.
