2021 is apparently the year of carbon.
In September, 2020, HJC unveiled its newest RPHA 11 graphic featuring the Man of Steel himself. That’s a cool option if you’re thinking about a new full-face lid, but what if you have something else in mind? As October pumpkin times roll through town, HJC Europe is unveiling a handful of other helmet options for those of us who aren’t secretly superheroes.
For open-face helmet fans, HJC introduced the new i30 in both Europe and the U.S, although the two markets get slightly different color choices. It features a Pinlock-ready shield with a quick-release base plate that requires zero tools to install or remove. HJC says the internal sun visor has also been revised to offer greater coverage than the previous version. This lid is also Smart HJC-ready, meaning it’s built to take the 10B or 20B Bluetooth comm units (sold separately) if you like.
The U.S. gets six colorways: semi flat black, black, white, semi flat titanium, silver, or wine. Meanwhile, Europe gets six colorways as well: semi flat black, semi flat pearl white, metal black, n.grey, pearl white, or semi flat metallic blue. It’s DOT certified in the U.S., and comes in sizes XS to 2XL. MSRP is $149.99 to $154.99 in the U.S., or €149.90 in Europe.
HJC Europe also launched a new ECE-certified modular dual-sport helmet, the C80. The outside is a polycarbonate composite, with a nice, wide face shield and an internal drop-down sun visor. Upper and lower vents were designed for ease of use with gloved hands, which is always a good move for riders. The chin bar on this modular lid features a one-touch lever for additional ease of use. It comes in four colorways: n.grey, pearl white, semi flat black, or metal black. MSRP is €249.90 (or $295.60, though it hasn’t been announced for the U.S. at the time of writing).

HJC Europe is also offering some of its models in Carbon variants, including the V30 open-face helmet. The carbon fiber shell is lightweight, looks nice, and has an integrated 3-position sun shield. The interior is finished in leather and suede to enhance the retro-modern look of this ECE-certified lid. Speaker pockets are included for Bluetooth communication, although it isn’t specifically Smart HJC-configured. MSRP is €299.90 (or $355).
The F70 Carbon will be available both on U.S. and European shores, and has both DOT and ECE certification. It features two top vents, five exhaust ports, an internal anti-fog drop-down sun shield, and Smart HJC Bluetooth compatibility. Sizes range from XS to 2XL, and MSRP is $399.99 or €399.90 to €409.90. While the U.S. gets just one carbon option, Europe gets a choice of either black or semi flat black.
