The Forza Horizon series is a spin-off of Microsoft/Turn 10's long-running and much loved Forza Motorsport game line. Launched in 2012, the Horizon games differ from their predecessor in that they're all open world games that focus on car-based hoonery and shenanigans rather than straight-up racing. Sadly, for those of us with more refined, two-wheeled tastes, neither Forza series has featured motorcycles. Now though, that seems like it might be changing if the E3 trailer for Forza 4 Horizon is anything to go by.

E3—the Electronic Entertainment Expo for those not in the know—is an annual nerd prom where, among other things, major game studios announce upcoming titles and generally throw themselves a big party. This year, along with your Dooms and your Wolfensteins and your Elder Scrolls, Microsoft announced the upcoming release of Forza 4 Horizon. Set in Great Britain, the game features fantastic 4k graphics, loads of cars, changing seasons, superb game physics, even a frickin' hovercraft. We can hear you now though, what's all this got to do with motorcycles? We're glad you asked!

Near the end of the announcement trailer, at about the 1:50 mark, there are a couple dirt bikes racing a Subaru rally car through a beautifully rendered English wood. Now, we're not entirely sure what that means. Are those bikes rideable? Are they just set dressing or AI opponents in a special showcase race? Everyone's kind of in the dark about it at this point since there aren't a whole lot of details about the game out there yet. It's pretty exciting though. The Forza series is great and the addition of bikes would, in our opinion, make for a richer and more diverse gaming experience.

Forza 4 Horizon drops on October 2, 2018. If we hear anything about the bike situation one way or another, we'll be sure to let you know.
