Buell Might Turn Its Insane V-Twin Hill Climb Motorcycle Into a Production Adventure Bike

Buell revealed a hill climb concept motorcycle based named 'The Goat', based on the Super Cruiser. This might be the platform to give birth to the brand's first adventure motorcycle.

Did you ever think we'd see the day that Buell made an adventure motorcycle? Me neither, and to be fair, we still might not, but we're a helluva lot closer than before. And it's all thanks to a hill-climbing concept the brand revealed earlier this year, according to reports by VisorDown.

The angry motorcycle you see, which looks like it'd go through hills for a shortcut, is based on the brand's flagship Super Cruiser. It's called 'The Goat' and is a hill climber concept based on an early Super Cruiser prototype, produced by Buell and reported on by Hot Bike earlier this month. Apparently, the concept was meant to show how versatile the Super Cruiser platform is.

Of course, this is far from a Super Cruiser, and I'm talking about more than the obvious knobby tires on spoked rims. 'The Goat' has long-travel WP suspension, a savagely aggressive side-exit exhaust system, and a bare-bones chassis with an extended swingarm. Nothing about this concept would lead me to believe that Buell might ever take the design further, until they said so.

It has been reported that Buell CEO Bill Melvin discussed adapting the platform into an adventure-style motorcycle with the team that was in charge of creating 'The Goat'. The question I had about all this quickly changed from "Why would Buell do this?" to "Why wouldn't Buell do this?"

What do you think?

The Adventure category is still one of the most popular in motorcycling. Buell's current four-model lineup, including the Super Cruiser, SuperTouring, Hammerhead, and Hammerhead 1190 SX, doesn't touch on the adventure market whatsoever. Taking a platform and repurposing it is one of the most common practices in the industry, although somewhat boring.

But something tells me if Buell repurposed the Super Cruiser platform to make an adventure motorcycle, it'd be anything but boring.
