This Is the Best Motorcycle Show You’ve Never Heard About
Well, you might have heard of INTERMOT, but the nature of the convention is changing so quickly that it's probably not quite like you remember.
I don't think much past EICMA when it comes to motorcycle conventions. Not to put any other ones down, but that's, for the most part, the be-all and end-all when it comes to new model launches. But motorcycling is more than new models and tech; beyond all that, it's a culture, and the International Motorcycle and Scooter Fair (INTERMOT) is a convention that celebrates and dives deeper into that aspect.
Its slogan, 'More than just bikes. This is love.', might seem over the top, but anyone who calls themselves 'a motorcyclist' is in love with motorcycling, and Intermot sets up an environment for you to explore your passion with like-minded folks. This year, the event will return to the Kölnmesse Center in Cologne, Germany, from December 4 to 7, 2025.
Of course, all the latest machinery will be on display from the brands you'd expect, but this year's focus will be on the young riders, showcasing the future of motorcycling, and chatting to digital influencers.
The convention was originally held every two years, but as of 2024, it has become an annual event as warranted by its ever-growing popularity and, according to organizers, the growing demand for more frequent engagement among OEMs, suppliers, and consumers.
This year's event is mainly designed to speak to riders aged 18 to 30 with Creator Day, a Creator Lounge, the 125cc Kickstarter section, and the Playground area that'll feature stunt shows. You'll get the oppertunity to hear from content creators who are on the boil right now, like including Mariam Suhk and Viktor Stahl (@marii__official, @viktor__stahl), Cologne racer Nina Londschien (@nanaxyda), and YouTube content creator Matthias Betz (@meddesyoutube).
The convention isn't just for new riders, however, as there'll be a Racing/Sport section and a Biker Meeting area where you can network with the motorcycling community, plan trips, and generally just talk bikes with food and beverages in arm's reach. With this in mind, it's fair to say Intermot is building its reputation not just as a motorcycle convention, but as a hub for the community—a spot to make friends and plans for future rides.
