Harley-Davidson Sees The Future Of Drag Racing With The LiveWire

In as much as electric motorcycles make for practical, sustainable, and efficient means of transportation, they also make for quite a bit of fun. This is largely because of their ease of use and rather instant power delivery. That being said, electric motorcycles are beginning to gain prevalence in the world of motorsports. For instance, MotoE, which debuted in 2019, serves as MotoGP's rather silent, yet exhilarating counterpart.

Aside from circuit racing, the instant torque and power delivery from electric motorcycles can be put to good use in drag racing. This is exactly what Harley-Davidson has set out to venture into in their latest video production. “Science of Speed” centers around the iconic American manufacturer’s journey in the world of drag racing, with the LiveWire taking center stage. Featuring the 10-time champion Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/ Vance & Hines drag racing team, the production shows just how much potential the LiveWire has in revolutionizing the world of drag racing.

In fact, Harley-Davidson drag racing team member, Angelle Sampey recently set a series of records aboard the Harley-Davidson LiveWire in September. The three-time Pro Stock Motorcycle champion set a record for top speed and elapsed time set by a production-spec electric motorcycle. The Harley-Davidson LiveWire crossed the quarter-mile in just 11.156 seconds at 110.35 miles per hour.

At this point, I’m pretty sure you’re no stranger to the Harley-Davidson LiveWire. Arguably one of the Bar and Shield’s most innovative and technologically advanced bikes in its fleet, the LiveWire can reach eye watering speeds with neck breaking acceleration. To be precise, it rockets from zero to sixty in just 3 seconds—right up the alley of superbike performance. For reference, the road-going Kawasaki Ninja H2 goes from zero to sixty in 3.1 seconds. On top of this, the LiveWire boasts a range of 145 miles on a single charge.
