Cardo Systems Unveils Waterproof Microphone for Off-Road Adventures
Improving on what's arguably the best.
I've ridden thousands of miles with my Cardo Packtalk Edge, through hot Mexican summers, tropical downpours, and frosty winters. The thing that stands out the most for me is that it simply works. It has never let me down, other than maybe giving me 12 hours of use rather than the advertised 13 hours once on a long trip.
But I'd never exposed the internal hardware to much water because I'd never used it on an adventure ride. Apparently, that must have been an issue because not Cardo has come up with a solution.
Cardo Systems has unveiled a waterproof microphone for off-road adventures. The IP67 hybrid boom microphone is intended for on- and off-road adventure use. The frost-resistant mic cover is intended for use with the Packtalk Edge and Packtalk Edge ORV, and can withstand dusty trails as well as wet, rainy conditions.
One group of people who riders who should be particularly excited about this new heavy-duty mic is snowmobilers. Cardo specially engineered the frost-resistant mic cover to perform in sub-zero temperatures and tailored it to fit snowmobile helmets.
“This new mic might be small, but it’s a big deal for Cardo customers who’ve told us they need reliable performance in dust, wind, rain, mud, and snow,” said Liat Sade Lavan, Cardo’s Head of ORV. “As the leader in communications for people on the move, the details matter.”
The Cardo Waterproof Microphone IP67 Certified will be available through Cardo dealers and online at an MSRP of $24.95. The mic is compatible with most Cardo devices, including Packtalk, Freecom X, and Spirit families. The accessory is not compatible with Edgephones.
Let us know if you've ever found the mic on your Cardo to underperform in harsh conditions, and if you'll be upgrading to this IP67-certified model in the comments.
