Forget MotoGP, When Will Ducati’s Historic WSBK Win Streak End?
Nicolo Bulega is on a record-breaking 19-race win streak ahead of this weekend's World SuperBike event at Aragon. The question is, how long can Bulega's and Ducati's WSBK dominance continue?
Ducati's run as unquestionably the most dominant MotoGP manufacturer is at an end, thanks to Aprilia. The Borgo Panigale brand matched the all-time MotoGP constructors' win streak record in 2025 with 22 wins, but the manufacturer's dip in performance was mirrored by outstanding performance in World SuperBike (WSBK), and that record of 22 consecutive wins is about to become relevant in the championship.
Nicolo Bulega is on a record-breaking 19-win streak in WSBK aboard his Factory Ducati machine, which started last October after the Estoril Race 2, when the Italian rider finished the 2025 season with a win but as runner-up to Toprak Razgatlıoğlu by 13 points.
Fast forward to today, and there hasn't been another winner in the WSBK Superbike class since Bulega won at Estoril, Portugal, in 2025. Razgatlıoğlu previously held the most consecutive wins, at 13, aboard his BMW. The Turk set the 13-win streak record in 2024 and matched it in 2025, but Bulega has demolished that record since then and shows no sign of stopping. With each win, Bulega sets two new records: a new rider's win streak and a new constructor's win streak record.
As we head into the Aragon race weekend, Bulega has the chance to break new ground in terms of a WSBK rider's win streak and match Ducati's all-time MotoGP win streak. There'll be three races at Aragon, and apart from Bulega's current form, he has historical form on his side. The 26-year-old rider won at Aragon twice last year and has only been off the podium there once in the past six years.
So, while everyone is focusing on whether the guard is changing from Ducati to Aprilia in MotoGP, Ducati, or, rather, Bulega, is annihilating records and asserting total dominance in WSBK. It's no secret that Bulega wants to follow in Razgatlıoğlu's footsteps and make the switch from WSBK to MotoGP, and has been in talks with some teams.
The question is: will continuing to etch his name deeper into this win streak record help him secure a full-time seat in MotoGP, or will the fact that he achieved such a feat after Razgatlıoğlu left taint the achievement?
