Toyota Built an Off-Road Electric 3-Wheeled Scooter That Fits In Your Car. You Might Be Able to Buy It

The Toyota Land Hopper Concept is what you get when you cross a Lime scooter with Toyota sensibility and add an extra wheel. And it's designed to fit in your Land Cruiser's trunk.

I love weird little concepts or mobility concepts that blend spaces and work for the average consumer. This, Land Hopper Concept by Toyota is at least one of those things, as it's an all-electric trike that sort of looks like a Lime scooter, sort of like a three-wheeled Yamaha leaning motorcycle, and sort of like the Cake motorcycles of a few years ago.

Even weirder, it's designed to fit in the back of your Toyota Land Cruiser SUV in the same vein as Honda's old Motocompo and its new Motocompacto EV scooters, but with far more usability. In fact, it's designed to go with you on your Land Cruiser adventures, which means, according to Toyota, it's off-road capable.

Well, I don't know about that, but it's probably still better than walking.

According to Toyota's press release, the Land Hopper "allows users to experience the joy of off-road riding on trails (primarily unpaved paths in mountains and forests), going beyond where the Land Cruiser can take them, expanding the joy of mobility from everyday use to touring at destinations through its ability to be stored in a vehicle's luggage area."

Basically, it's an EV scooter with an extra wheel for stability, and slightly more rugged tires and suspension compared to those that only go on the road. Yet, it's one that goes into your trunk for helping on all sorts of adventures.

But while Toyota has stated that it plans on selling the Land Hopper, it hasn't said how much it'll cost, when they'll start selling it, where in the world the Land Hopper will be available, or really anything else. You know, the sort of things you'd like to know when you're thinking about buying a new vehicle. But for context, a regular EV scooter like those used by Lime cost about $2,000. This, given it's more burly add-ons, will likely cost around that if not a bit more.

We'll have to just wait and see, however, but who's excited for this latest addition to the "Fit In Your Trunk" mobility?
