On April 30, 2026, American Honda issued a fast track recall via the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which governs off-road motorcycles and powersports vehicles, among other products. The recall affects 2025 and 2026 Honda CRF250R/RX/RWE and CRF450R/RX/RWE motorcycles, because their handlebar clamps can apparently allow the handlebar to rotate unexpectedly while in use. This could pose a risk of serious injury or even death due to the potential for a crash.

Approximately 12,600 individual units are affected by this recall in the US; additionally, the recall states, around six more units were sold in Canada. Canadian riders, please also take note and get this recall service done to keep your new CRF in safe riding order.

Honda's remedy for this issue states that riders should immediately stop using the recalled motorcycles immediately, then contact their local authorized Honda Powersports dealer to arrange for recall inspection and service. Both the inspection and, if necessary, the service will be performed free of charge. At the recall appointment, a licensed Honda technician will inspect the handlebar clamp, and will also replace it if necessary.

So far, American Honda has received a single report of a crash as a result of this issue, but no injury was reported. The affected motorcycles were sold through Honda Powersports dealers in the US and Canada between June 2024 and March 2026, for amounts ranging between $8,900 and $13,200.

Owners may contact American Honda Motor toll-free at 1-866-784-1870, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Pacific from Monday through Friday. The US CPSC campaign number for this recall is 26-458. Owners can also locate their VIN on the left side of the steering head on all affected models, and then check their VIN to see if it is included in the recall by going to https://powersports.honda.com/recalls to look it up.
