KTM 390 Owners, A Recall From 2025 Just Got Expanded To Include More Bikes
Certain years and production ranges of 390 Dukes and RC 390s are now included in the e-throttle recall the company issued in late 2025.
Back in September 2025, KTM North America issued a recall notice for certain 2022 through 2024 390 Adventures, in addition to 2022 through 2023 Husqvarna Vitpilen 401s and Svartpilen 401s. Fast-forward to the end of March 2026, and KTM North America has just expanded this recall to include certain 2022 through 2023 390 Duke and 2022 through 2024 RC 390s, as well.
The issue remains a problem with the throttle control unit on affected bikes, which KTM refers to as an e-throttle since it is ride-by-wire. Water may apparently enter the throttle on affected bikes, which could in turn cause it to fail. This could mean the bike would lose drive power while it is being ridden, thus increasing the risk of a crash and/or injury.
Approximately 7,974 390 Dukes and RC 390s in North America could be affected, which represents around 1.6% of the population according to company records. Potentially affected 2022 through 2023 390 Dukes were produced between January 18, 2022 and July 26, 2023, and potentially affected 2022 through 2024 RC 390s were produced between January 18, 2022 and March 22, 2024.
According to the recall chronology, both the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and its Canadian equivalent agency, Transport Canada, have been investigating this issue for the past few years.
KTM notified its dealer network about the expansion of this recall on March 31, 2026. It plans to notify registered owners of affected bikes on or about April 30, 2026. Owners will be instructed to contact their local authorized KTM dealer to arrange for recall service, which will be performed at no charge to the customer. If owners have previously paid to have service performed to address this issue prior to this recall, they may be eligible for reimbursement, as long as they have appropriate evidence to back their claims.
Owners may contact KTM North America's customer service hotline at 1-888-985-6090. Additionally, owners may contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-888-275-9171) or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
