Vespa Is Recalling All Its Officina 8 Scooters In US Over a Mirror Mixup
If you bought a Vespa GTV 310, Primavera 150, or Primavera 50 in the 2026-only Officina 8 colorway, they were accidentally shipped with Euro-market mirrors.
Remember the absolutely gorgeous special Officina 8 special edition livery that the Piaggio Group put on some of its Vespa scooters for 2026? To be more specific, it did this on the GTV 310, Primavera 150, and Primavera 50 models. Well, if you own one of those scooters and you're in the US, there's now a recall for all of them.
Approximately 285 total scooters are involved in this recall, which represents 100% of the population according to Piaggio Group Americas' records. The issue relates to the mirrors on scooters in this colorway, which are apparently the European-market bar-end mirrors.
To comply with US federal vehicle safety standards, rearview mirrors must have a convex mirror warning sticker that reads "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear." These stickers are not required in European markets, and thus are not present on the mirrors used in that market.
According to the text of this safety recall, "without the convex mirror warning, riders might misjudge distances thinking other vehicles are further away than they really are, this could lead to unsafe lane changes or maneuvers that could result in a crash."
Owners will be instructed to contact their local Vespa dealer for recall service, which will consist of replacement of their existing mirrors with compliant mirrors that have the convex mirror warning sticker in place. This recall service is estimated to take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
Piaggio Group Americas notified its dealer network about this recall on May 18, 2026. That's also the date that VINs became searchable in the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's vehicle database. Owners will be notified between May 18 and June 15, 2026.
Additionally, any Officina 8 units that are in stock through the Piaggio Group Americas dealer network will not be sold until this mirror compliance issue has been addressed, and the appropriate mirrors have been installed.
Owners may contact PGA's customer service hotline at 1-212-380-4400, or via email at customercare@us.piaggio.com. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
