Wait, Akrapovič Makes Footpegs Now?
Akrapovič’s titanium footpegs bring MotoGP-grade materials to ADV bikes like the BMW R 1300 GS, which will let you pair your exhaust with your pegs.
Akrapovič just dropped a titanium Adventure Footpeg Set, and yeah, at first glance it feels like the brand took a sharp turn. The exhaust kings are now making something you stand on. But the more you look at it, the more it actually checks out.
This isn’t some random merch play. These pegs are cast in Akra’s own foundry using Grade 5 titanium, which is basically the same material they’ve built their entire reputation on. High strength, low weight, and zero interest in corrosion. If you’ve ever seen one of their exhausts up close, you already know the vibe. This is that same obsession, just moved under your boots.
Quite frankly, I was lucky to have a full exhaust system from these guys fitted onto my daily-ridden XSR900 when I got it, and it's definitely my favorite upgrade on that bike. The fit and finish, as well as the if-you-know-you-know factor from this brand is simply unparalleled.
The design leans into their signature look with that octagonal shape and a Y-shaped reinforcement underneath. It’s not just for show. That structure keeps the platform stiff while keeping weight down. Up top, you’ve got a wide surface with central teeth that spread your weight out and give you grip whether you’re sitting, standing, or hanging off the side attacking the twisties.
It’s clearly aimed at riders who actually use their bikes. Not the Starbucks ADV crowd. Think standing on the pegs, picking your way through rocks, sliding around loose terrain. The layout even accounts for heel-down riding, which tells you these weren’t designed in a vacuum. They were tested in real riding conditions.
What makes this whole thing less weird is that Akrapovič has already been creeping into this space. They’ve been making carbon bits, heat shields, and even hardware like crash protection. They already do crash bars for the BMW GS, so this isn’t exactly out of nowhere. It’s more like they’re slowly building a catalog of premium hard parts for bikes that people actually push.
And honestly, ADV and dual-sport bikes are the perfect target. Owners of bikes like the Yamaha Ténéré 700, KTM 690 Enduro R, or Ducati Multistrada V4 already spend big on upgrades. If you’re dropping cash on titanium exhausts, a set of trick titanium pegs doesn’t sound that crazy anymore.
They’re also practical. Installation is straightforward, they’re ABE type-approved, and they come with removable rubber inserts for when you’re doing highway miles and don’t want your feet buzzing. Pop them in or out with no tools depending on how you’re riding that day. Take note, however, that you do need to reuse the OEM mounting hardware on your motorcycle, so it’s not exactly a full bolt-on kit with new pins and springs. Not a dealbreaker, but worth knowing before you start wrenching.
At the end of the day, this is reads less like Akrapovič trying something new and more like them doubling down on what they already do best. High-end materials, precision manufacturing, and parts you can actually feel while riding. Exhausts just happen to be the thing they’re most famous for. But everything else is starting to fall into place around it.
