Brad Pitt & Channing Tatum Working on Isle of Man Docuseries and Film
They picked the perfect year to record the documentary.
If you want to get rid of me, give me an Isle of Man TT (IOM TT) documentary and lock me in a room. I've written about some fantastic documentaries to bring people who are unfamiliar with the race up to speed. But my current favorite is Between The Hedges, and my all-time is unquestionably Road. Now, imagine my glee when I heard there's going to be a new film and docuseries revolving around the IOM TT.
If you're already in the 2-wheeled documentary world, then Hitting The Apex is nothing new to you, and you'll remember how well Brad Pitt told the story of the MotoGP battles taking place in 2014. Well, now, he'll be telling the story of the ultimate motorcycle gladiators along with Channing Tatum.
The film and docuseries package about the IOM TT will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, Tatum and Carolin’s Free Association, Pitt’s Plan B, and Entertainment 360’s Guymon Casady and Jason Keller.
As for the feature film, well, the plot details are vague, but given the film-like storyline that the IOM TT continues to naturally produce every year, it shouldn't take much to make it into a feature, especially with stars like Pitt and Tatum involved. But we know a bit more about the other project.
The docuseries portion of the project was filmed throughout last year's IOM TT, but it shouldn't wind up looking like any other series made about the riders of the mountain course. Apparently, the producers were given never-before-seen access to the riders and racers, as they had an exclusive partnership with the event promoters. There'll be four 45-minute character-driven episodes focusing on riders chasing their dreams of being king of the mountain course.
If you follow the IOM TT, then I think you'll probably agree that there hasn't been a better time in recent history to make a docuseries than the 2024 races, as that's when Michael Dunlop surpassed his uncle Joey to become the winningest TT rider in history. No doubt, he'll be at the center of the series, which should come as wonderful news for fans who want to know more about the famously private Dunlop.
