Take a Look At These Sweet Colors the Honda ADV160 Doesn't Get Here
Team Red's ADV-styled scooter gets a multi-hued paint refresh overseas.
A few years back, I had the chance to spend a day riding around Los Angeles on a Honda ADV150, and I loved every second of it. While I wished that the underseat storage area was as capacious as the one on my ancient Burgman 400, it was a pretty sweet little twist-and-go scooter. Complete with styling that was on point.
Naturally, I started planning and plotting how I wanted to eventually ride one in a future Scooter Cannonball. Still haven't done that (yet), but in the meantime, Honda's bumped the ADV150 up to an ADV160, which the US does thankfully get. In a single, lonely color.
Know who's getting three fancy new color and graphic schemes on the ADV160 as of May? Malaysia.
What's more, rather than kick older colors out of the nest, Honda Malaysia will be offering these three new options alongside the existing Gray and Matte Green color options already on sale in that market. The gray one is the same one that's currently sold in the US, by the way.
And it's a nice color; no complaints about it other than that I always wish for a) more color choice, and b) brighter colors when and where possible. Seriously, give me all the bright colors and loud graphics. Give me split-color/flavor boxes of Nerds candies, only in motorbike paint schemes. Seriously, I don't ask for much!
Up at the top of this range of images, you'll see the three new colors together. Down below, you'll see the Matte Green and Gray options (and that matte green is pretty sweet, to be honest).
Underneath, the scoots remain the same. They're powered by Honda's 157cc eSP+ engine, which is a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single. It comes with Honda Selectable Torque Control, ABS, an emergency stop signal (ESS), Honda Smart Key with alarm system, a USB port to charge your phone on the go, an LCD display, an adjustable windscreen, and an 8.1-liter fuel tank. Lighting is LED all around, and the underseat storage area can hold 30 liters of your stuff.
Will any of these colors make it to other markets? Probably, as Honda has a habit of introducing new colors in higher-selling Asian markets on its small-displacement bikes and scooters first before eventually rolling them out elsewhere. Here's hoping that's the case here, as well. I don't expect that we'll ever see all of these colors in the US (or maybe even elsewhere), but here's hoping at least a couple make it overseas.
