KTM North America Is Recalling Some Husqvarna, GasGas Bikes For Brake Issue

A defective component from a supplier is to blame.

KTM North America is recalling certain Husqvarna and GasGas motorcycles due to an issue with a specific front brake caliper that was only used on certain years and models. The problem involves casting irregularities on a batch of brake calipers from a supplier. Affected calipers may experience a crack in the upper guide pin, which could in turn cause the front brake to be less effective.

According to KTM NA's records, approximately 5,116 motorcycles sold in the US may be affected by this recall. This represents around one percent of the population.

Multiple years and models sold under the Husqvarna and GasGas brands may be affected, spanning specific production dates and non-sequential VIN number ranges. Here's a list:

2022 through 2024 Husqvarna FE 350s
2022 through 2024 Husqvarna FE 501s
2024-2025 GasGas ES 350
2024-2024 GasGas ES 500

Production dates on affected motorcycles range from January 13, 2022 to October 11, 2023 and from June 27, 2023 to May 16, 2024. Affected VINs range from VBKUAG40XNM252726 to VBKUAJ409RM459739 and from VBKGCG404RM213160 to VBKGCJ405SM463249 , but are non-sequential.

The affected brake calipers were supplied by J. Juan, and the recall states plainly that "irregularities were found in the casting structure of one of the brake supplier's sub-suppliers." At the time that KTM North America submitted its official recall report to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, no injuries or deaths related to this issue had been reported.

KTM North America will notify its dealer network about this recall between February 10, 2025 and July 13, 2026. Furthermore, it plans to notify owners of the affected bikes about this issue between April 7, 2025 and April 24, 2026.

Owners will be instructed to schedule recall service with their local authorized KTM/GasGas/Husqvarna dealers, which will be provided at no charge to them. Dealers will then inspect the front brake caliper to identify whether the affected version of the caliper is installed. If the affected caliper is installed, it will be replaced with an improved unit.
