Spotted: 2022 Brabus 1300 R Caught Testing In Europe
A Husky In Duke’s clothing.
Update: We previously (and falsely) identified this spied model as the Husqvarna Vitpilen 1301. However, KTM leaks on February 9, 2022, prove that this test mule is in fact the KTM 1290 Super Duke Evo-based Brabus 1300 R. The article below has been updated to reflect the latest details.
Ever since news broke of Brabus entering the motorcycle market in November, 2021, we've waited with bated breath to see what the Mercedes tuning specialist would create. Partnering with KTM, the firm already had a suitable base, building on the KTM 1290 Super Duke platform. Luckily, photographers recently captured the upcoming collaboration in action, testing in Europe before its imminent release.
While KTM favors aggressive styling and sister company Husqvarna opts for a refined, futuristic design language, the Brabus 1300 R seems to toe the line between the two aesthetics. Similar to Husqvarna's Vitpilen series, the 1300 R dons a circular headlight but also borrows the Super Duke's sharp composite subframe and angular radiator shrouds.

That doesn’t mean that Brabus just cherry-picked from KTM and Husky's bin parts though. The Brabus 1300 R test mule sports a single-sided swingarm but goes for a nine-spoke cast aluminum wheelset compared to the Super Duke R’s five-spoke units. The exhaust silencer also differs from its KTM relative, opting for a dual-can design. For an elevated touch, the prototype touts bar-end mirrors, a sleek front fender, and a belly pan as well.
While the 1300 R spy photos reveal a lot about the potential new model, the Brabus differentiates itself from its Austrian and Swedish-styled counterparts. Images of the new hypernaked are encouraging evidence of the Brabus' continued work on the project, we can’t wait to see the model's specs and pricing when Brabus makes its motorcycling debut.
