A new line of motorcycle gear has been launched, aimed at meeting the needs of female riders.

Atwyld is gear made by women who ride and have an eye for fashion. The creators of the line, Corinne Lan Franco, Anya Violet, and Jaime Dempsey saw a major lack of quality fashionable women's riding gear and decided to do something about it. They are all active members of a community of women that love to ride and race and are general spreaders of happy vibes and good times (one of the T-shirts from the line is embroidered "Nice Girls Club").

Franco is the creative director for the brand. She rides both street and dirt. Meanwhile, Violet is one of the co-founders of the popular international women's motorcycle event "Babes Ride Out" and, in my opinion, an inspiring person in general. I have had the honor of racing MX alongside Violet and, well, I’ll just say that I can’t stay alongside her for very long. Dempsey is a rad lady who hosts "Ride N' Seek," a travel documentary show, and somehow managed to make this launch happen after returning from a trip riding across the Philippines with a film crew in tow.

These ladies are the real deal and all have a passion for "putting a layer between you and the road." Their stuff is on pre-order finally after a long teaser period and a lot of testing on their end.

I managed to get a peek at the line at their launch party and I definitely had a few favorites. The place was so completely packed with people that it was almost impossible to get photos but I managed to get this one of the girls with part of the line.

I can vouch for these articles of clothing being just as awesome in person as they are on the website.

Here were a few of my favorites.

The Shred Moto Jeans:

Fashionable riding jeans with leather panels down front and in the pockets, Kevlar in all impact zones and removable knee and hip pads.

The Navigate Moto Fleece:

Kevlar and leather meant to be worn as an outer layer, it's also jersey lined inside, so it doesn't feel like you're wearing a chainmail sweatshirt. I would probably choose to wear this with the Convoy armored shirt (below) worn underneath.

Convoy Armored Shirt:

The Convoy is designed to be worn under a leather or Kevlar-lined jacket that doesn't have pads. It's worn skin tight and the D30 pads give it maximum protection with minimal bulkiness (To our knowledge, all D30 armor is CE certified -Ed). What I like about this piece is that so many ladies I know have a favorite leather jacket that they can now turn into an armored jacket, which is much safer to ride in.

You can see the rest of the line on their website including T-shirts and hats that you can purchase now. The gear ships in October but something tells me the first run is going to go quickly.
