We have been reviewing Scorpion products quite a bit lately and the budget-minded brand continues to impress with what you get for what you pay. Scorpion products offer lot of features packed into each item for sometimes hundreds less than the competition. The Trey pants are no exception.

Features:

The Trey pants sport a mesh outer construction with a removable H2O Blok waterproof layer making these pants a jack of all trades. With a comfortable loose fit they can easily be worn on any motorcycle comfortably.

Comfort:

At this point it might be easier to write about pants that don't have comfortable liners and interiors. In testing multiple pairs of pants they all are lined nicely, with no sharp edges, or any other issues. Frankly a company would be out of business quickly if they didn't make them comfortable.

Waist adjustment is quick and easy with velcro straps. The pants will fit to any Scorpion jacket via a zipper system. One odd item is the use of an old school button instead of a snap. Think Levi's 501 button fly jeans. It's a nice touch and never unsnaps like so many other pants do.

Full length side zippers and a pant leg that was designed to be hemmed up to 1 inch to customize the length.

We rate the comfort “Outstanding” for it’s soft interior, as well as ease of use for the liner removal and install.

Protection:

Hip armor, knee armor, strong stitching, extra material sewn into abrasion areas and the use of good quality materials help these pants perform really well. Scorpion uses Sas-Tec CE armor. This is different than the normal D3O found in most competitors' gear. We are fans of the Sas-Tec armor for having very similar characteristics and becoming very, very pliable from proximity to body heat. It really adds to the comfort of wearing the Trey pants. Protection is "Excellent" for having complete armor coverage.

Temperature Range and Waterproofing:

Designed for warm weather the pants hit their mark perfectly. Full mesh air flow when the liner is removed and wind protection when the liner is in makes them very versatile. Like most pants with this setup, though, they do get cold in wet weather. The H2O Blok technology membrane has proven itself to be very effective. It's a nice alternative to Gore-Tex and comes at a much lower cost as well.

We'll call the Treys a 2-season pair of pants, and for that they get an "Outstanding". They hit their design criteria right on the mark, and they keep the water out even if they do get you cold in the wet.

Conclusion:

Priced at $199.95 the Scorpion Trey pants offer a great pair of pants at a very competitive price.

The overall rating for the Trey pants is “Outstanding”. You should consider that these are a 2 season pair of pants and use that when you look at the rating.
