Vanderhall Is Recalling Every Electric UTV It's Made Over Unexpected Acceleration. Could Cause Injury or Death

This recall is for a firmware issue, and owners should immediately stop driving their Brawley GTS until the firmware can be updated.

Vanderhall North America is recalling every last one of its 2024, 2025, and 2026 Brawley GTS electric recreational off-highway vehicles (ROVs) because of a firmware issue. When a driver lifts off the accelerator pedal, the vehicle can reportedly "maintain speed or accelerate," which is clearly not the behavior a driver would expect when lifting off the pedal. This could, in turn, cause an increased risk of a serious injury or death, according to the Fast Track recall issued through the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

About 210 Brawley GTS are impacted by this recall, according to information provided to the US CPSC by Vanderhall. This recall was issued on August 6, 2026. Owners are advised to immediately stop driving their Brawley GTS until they can complete the firmware update that is the factory fix for this recall issue.

Owners should contact Vanderhall North America directly for instructions on how to update their firmware to version 7.1.0 using the Vanderhall mobile app, which should solve this problem. This software fix was released on April 15, 2026, and owners needing additional assistance can also contact their dealer for assistance.

So far, Vanderhall says it has received one report of a vehicle accelerating unexpectedly, but no injuries have been reported. These vehicles were sold at Vanderhall North America Dealers in the states of Utah, Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Montana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Arizona from April 2024 through June 2026, at an MSRP starting around $50,000.

This follows an earlier 2026 recall on all 2024 through 2026 Brawley electric ROVs due to their tie rods breaking in certain off-road driving situations. If you have not had that recall attended to, you should contact your local authorized Vanderhall dealer before the next time you take your Brawley out, as well.
