Insta360’s Paris Pop-up Cycling Event Was Crazy Good. Please Make One for Motorcyclists

Imagine an Insta360 cycling event in Paris, where you get to do hands-on workshops with experts before taking on a Tour de France-inspired ride. Now imagine it with motorcycles.

Insta360 just took over Paris with its 'Vibrez en Jaune' pop-up. The cycling and creator event took place over three days between July 24 and 26, and if you don't know what it's all about, fear not, because this was the first event of its kind run by the action camera manufacturer. And by all accounts, it was genius.

The idea behind the event was to get camera gear into cycling and content-creating enthusiasts' hands, then show them how to use it. Insta360 hosted a series of "Cycle & Create" workshops designed to lower the barrier to content creation. Product experts were on hand to show attendees how to capture the most dynamic shots, whether they're on a weekend group ride or simply commuting to work.

The event wasn't all workshops; it was also about a community of cyclists coming together and sharing their passions. The registered riders connected over coffee at the pop-up shop, which undoubtedly served as a breeding ground for new content ideas. After a couple of days of getting to know each other and attending workshops, it was time to bring everything together for the Hero Moment, where the riders took over the streets of Paris.

On July 26, more than 250 riders embarked on the "Vibrez en Jaune" Pop-Up main event. Organized in partnership with the Peloton Cycling Club, the group rode a 90 km (56-mile) route inspired by the Tour de France Paris finale. Throughout the ride, select riders who were equipped with Insta360 cameras recorded first-person footage of the group as they navigated Paris's historic streets. Then it was time to party.

Once riders crossed the finish line, they were welcomed by an after-party at the Insta360 pop-up space, complete with a professional DJ, refreshments, and finger food right as the actual Tour de France final stage was broadcast live on a giant screen. Now, as ridiculously cool as this event was, I think it'd be even better if Insta360 did it with motorcycles—quelle suprise.

Think about it: Insta360 has so many cameras that motorcyclists create with, from conventional action cameras to 360 units and tiny ones that fit inside our helmets. The offerings are so dynamic that it makes it hard for riders to know where to even start, and that's before you get into where to mount said cameras and how to use ND filters.

What do you think?

I reached out and asked Insta360's Global PR representative, Mindy Dai, about whether the brand had considered doing a similar event with motorcycles, and the answer was as positive as I could've hoped for. Dai said, "Regarding your question about a motorcycle-focused event — yes, we’d definitely be open to exploring something like this in the future. I absolutely agree that riding is a powerful way to connect people and tell stories."

Imagine a group ride with hundreds of fellow motorcyclists, loaded with camera gear, after being taught how to get the best shots by experts, then heading to a party and watching a race. The only thing we'd all have to decide on is what our version of the Tour de France is; let us know what you think in the comments.
