This Gold Chrome Motorcycle Helmet May Be The Boldest Of Statements. The Glare Has To Be Wild
Do you need a gold chrome helmet? No. But you know you want one…
Ruroc was founded in 2006 in Gloucester, England, and has spent the past two decades crafting helmets that combine advanced protection technology with bold, unmistakable designs. But, damn, this new helmet is certainly a bold statement of statements.
The brand recently unveiled the AT4.0 CARBON Gold Chrome, an absolutely wild-looking lid that Ruroc says “showcases an elevated experiment in color and complexity, pushing the boundaries of helmet finishing through an intensive, hand-applied gold treatment.”
To quote Goldmember, "I love gooooooold!"
Gold Chrome is the result of years of development, according to Ruroc, and requires an eight-stage nano-painting process. Unlike standard helmet finishes – gloss white or matte black, for example - each Gold Chrome shell is hand-sprayed by in-house technicians to create a mirror-like liquid gold finish.
The AT4.0 CARBON features chrome on a non-metal surface finish, which the brand says requires “talent, patience, and the perfect painting conditions” to apply. Because of the amount of craftsmanship involved in producing this precious metal flavored lid, Ruroc is producing only 200 examples, total.
And since they’re going to be limited in production, each helmet will feature an individually numbered gold tag hand-stitched into the liner, as well as a commemorative holofoil authentication sticker on the back of the shell. Fancy.
The AT4.0 CARBON features a lightweight carbon fiber shell, along with RHEON impact protection, a Fidlock magnetic strap, and built-in integration for either a Shockwave audio system or a Cardo intercom. In all, it seems like a solid carbon fiber helmet, wrapped in gold leaf and outfitted with some well-known components.
As I mentioned, the AT4.0 CARBON Gold Chrome is limited to just 200 units globally, and is priced at $625 on the company’s website. So, if you’re looking to stand out, like, a lot, this might be the helmet you never knew you needed.
