This Off-Road Motorcycle Racing Series Is Going to Canada, Here's Why You Should Care
The AMA’s indoor off-road racing series, Arenacross, is heading north of the border to Canada, and is finally getting recognized by the FIM.
Earlier this week, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) announced that it will recognize the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Arenacross Championship as an official FIM Championship series with events being held in both the United States and Canada during the upcoming season.
AMA Arenacross has seen record attendance in the last few years, and its hope is that the expansion of the series into Canada will connect top racers from across North America and subsequently aid in the development of a new generation of riders.
The FIM is working with the AMA, the Canadian Motorcycle Association (CMA), and AX Promotions to expand the series across the continent. Racers who compete only in the United States will have the chance to be recognized as AMA Arenacross National Champions, while racers who compete in both US rounds and those held in Canada will fight for the FIM Continental Championship.
AMA President and CEO, Rob Dingman, who also serves as the president of FIM North America, said in a press release shared by Motor Sports NewsWire, that “Arenacross is one of the AMA’s most action-packed series with decades of history in the United States, and we’re thrilled to work with our friends at the CMA and our series promoter AX Promotions to elevate it to new heights.” He went on to say that “with FIM NA’s sanction and CMA’s involvement, we can bring the sport to new fans and recognize the riders and teams with Continental Championship status.”
The 2025-2026 AMA Arenacross season will include two races in Calgary and two in Toronto, as well as ten rounds hosted in the United States. The series kicks off on October 11th in Huntington Beach, California and concludes February 27th in Daytona Beach, Florida.
