Valentino Rossi VR46 Riding Academy

Fancy you have the talent to be better than nine times World Motorcycle Champion Valentino Rossi? Well if you’re Italian you can actually go and learn from the master himself, who this week announced the opening of his VR46 Riders Academy.

Based in Rossi’s home town of Tavullia, in Italy, it’s not exactly clear who is eligible for entry into the school but those chosen will have access to Rossi and a team of top level instructors along with Rossi’s own private gym and dirt track circuit at his home.

So far, there are six young Italian talents that have been picked by Rossi for the academy that include Team Sky VR46 Moto3 riders Pecco Bagnaia and Romano Fenati, Spanish CEV Moto3 riders Luca Marini, Andrea Migno and Nicolo Bulega and Moto2 rider Franco Morbidelli.

Together with a team of professionals that will manage the riders’ relationships with their respective teams, logistics, contracts and coaching, Valentino will prepare specific track and gym routines for each rider, tailored to their different needs.

Rossi’s own web site announced the news of the VR46 Academy stating that ‘it will be the new headquarters for the training and growth of  young quality Italian riders.’

For the moment it seems that the academy  will be the springboard for just young Italian riders to gain a foothold in motorcycle racing, but if it proves successful what are the chances of the academy opening its doors to other young hopefuls from around the world?
