Ducati Wants You to Know that There's an App for That

New Ducati Link mobile app lets you record your trip, add pictures, share your ride and personalize your Multistrada settings via your smartphone.

It's the Italian manufacturer's turn to connect smartphones and motorcycles

Apps connecting to vehicles are becoming increasingly popular. Until now, Bluetooth magic was mainly reserved for four-wheel vehicles, but motorcycles are slowly starting to take their share of the market. For example, you can now pair your Ducati Multistrada 1260 S to your smartphone thanks to the Ducati Link app.

Thanks to the mobile app, your smartphone an now provide useful information about your Ducati motorcycle and the time you spend on it. Thanks to the Ducati Multimedia System, you can connect your mobile phone to the Multistrada 1260’s control unit. From there, using the Ducati Link will allow you to have access to a flight of data and metrics.

For instance, the app will keep track of your trip so that getting lost won’t mean losing track of that cute little road you’d like to revisit but can’t remember the path to. You can even share the information with other users should you have a recommendation to make or check out what other riders have shared. You can add pictures and descriptions about locations, turning your app into a travel journal or a scrapbook of the trip.

It also records the distance traveled and duration of the trip as well as the top performance statistics in terms of speed, power, rpm, and lean angle. Via the app, you can set certain parameters, such as indicate the presence of “load” such as saddlebags or a passenger and personalize settings such as ABS and traction control. You can select the riding mode, whether you prefer a quieter ride or a more spirited one and even personalize the display.

Ducati Link also notifies riders when maintenance is due, as well as shares news and information sent from Ducati. The technology has been developed in partnership with e-novia, an Italian firm of technological research and development.

The app is free and is available on Apple and Android. Ducati plans on making more and more of their bikes compatible with the app. Now, wherever you go with your Ducati, Ducati Link will record the memory for you.
