Your Kid Wants and Needs This Harley-Davidson Ride Machine

Remember those kids' ride machines where you threw a couple quarters and rocked back and forth? Yeah, you can get one for your kid in the shape of an old-school Harley-Davidson motorcycle right now.

Recall simpler times. Older times. Times that didn't involve video games or tablets or the litany of things vying for everyone's eyeballs. Ah, the '90s. Well, we did have video games, they just sucked, at least up until Halo came out.

But before then, if you went to the grocery store or to the movies, and you were with little kids, you'd find yourself desperately searching for quarters as those places always had those little ride-on machines. It was the height of fun. Well, the sort of fun you'd get from rocking back and forth to some sort of jingle as a toddler or small child.

They weren't technological marvels, nor incredible entertainment. But they served a purpose for those with little kids, as they kept them occupied and sans a meltdown.

Why am I talking about those rides, you ask? Well, one just came up for auction, and it's in the shape of an old-school Harley-Davidson police bike, and for the grandparent with deep pockets and little grandchildren who has a fondness for the brand, this could be a great addition to the house.

Built by Industrias Falgas, S.A., of Spain—yes, this Harley ain't as American as you'd believe—it's being auctioned off at no reserve on the auction site Bring-a-Trailer, the downfall of many a workday as I scroll through the listings seeing what I can't afford.

And as mentioned above, the machine is in the shape of a Harley-Davidson police bike, and features flashing blue lights. Unfortunately, the speakers aren't in working order, and the seller notes that there is a little rust here and there, though the main components are fiberglass.

According to Bring-a-Trailer's description, "The Harley-Davidson-style fiberglass bodywork is finished in a red-and-white police livery on the faux fuel tank and fenders and features black and red accents, faux panniers, simulated engine and suspension components, front and rear turn signals, flashing blue lights, chrome trim, and Falgas decals. A plastic windscreen and bright rider footboards are also fitted. A Harley-Davidson decal is missing from the right side of the fuel tank, which also features a branded faux fuel filler cap."

Furthermore, a prior owner installed a bypass switch which allows the owner to just turn the ride on instead of inserting a nickel for the 45-second ride duration. And given how hard it is to find actual change these days, along with the U.S. mint killing the penny, that's probably for the best.

At the time of writing, the no reserve auction is up to $800 after three bids. I doubt it'll get that much more expensive, but I've been known to make some poor auction predictions in the past, so if you want it, you might have to keep an eye on it.
