Don't Give Your Kids These ATVs For Christmas And Stop Riding Them Right Now
Youth ATVs made by Luyuan and sold at Walmart, Amazon, and other online retailers could "pose a serious risk of injury or death."
We've written about some ultra-cheap youth ATVs getting recalled in the past, and unfortunately, here's another one to add to your "do not buy" list. If you or someone in your family already owns a Luyuan X-Pro Eagle 40cc or an FRP Sahara 40cc (they come in various colors, and all colors are affected), which were sold between April and September 2025, you need to immediately stop using or riding them.
According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission and Luyuan (the manufacturer), there are multiple problems with both of these ATVs. The first thing is that its suspension "fails to comply with safety requirements," which of course poses a crash hazard.
The recall goes on to say that "the handlebars pose a laceration hazard," particularly if the child's head or any part of their body impacts the handlebars at speed. It further notes that ATVs that fail to meet mandatory safety requirements pose a risk of serious injury and/or death, in case the previous warnings weren't clear enough about the danger.
Around 2,290 of these units are believed to be impacted according to the US CPSC. You can identify these ATVs by their "X Pro" or "FRP" labels found on the bodies of these small youth ATVs. They were sold through various online retailers for a few hundred dollars new, including Walmart, Amazon, and Temu. A quick Google shows some eBay and other sellers offering these for sale as well.
If you own one of the affected youth ATVs, you should stop using it immediately and contact Luyuan USA at 855-663-2121 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT Monday through Friday to arrange free repair service from an authorized repair shop. The recall notes that so far, no injuries or incidents stemming from this issue have been reported.
