I Took The Can-Am Canyon To Explore Dirt Roads I'd Never Seen Before: Video
The Can-Am Canyon is a more rugged, sturdy addition to the brand's 3-wheeled lineup, made to traverse dirt and unpaved roads in addition to asphalt and highways.
Can-Am is an interesting company, making space to fit itself into the conversation in unconventional ways. Love or hate the Spyder and Ryker three-wheeler lineup, it's another avenue for some folks who want to ride to get out and explore.
And, I mean, isn't that what it's all about? Gatekeeping is so 20th century, you guys. I'm here to be a gateway. Let's all go for a ride and have some nice throttle therapy!
Still, one area that Can-Am hadn't previously inserted its three-wheeler lineup into was unpaved roads. Enter the Canyon lineup, which everyone's favorite Canadian powersports OEM touts as being a three-wheeler for "all roads." Note that it does not claim off-road chops; as one of the engineers told us at the presentation, if you try to go rock-crawling with one of these babies, you will get stuck. That's not what it's for.
But dirt roads? Sure. Mud, even? I mean, you'll see it in this video, which you should go watch because it's finally live. If you want to read my long-form review of the Can-Am Canyon XT in words, you can find it here. If you're the type of person who prefers to take in your reviews in video form, though? This video is for you.
It's a versatile machine, with plenty of cargo capacity if you want to take yourself and maybe someone else on a fun little weekend journey. Or maybe even longer; it's all up to you. Paved or dirt roads (or even muddy roads) are no problem, and it's a pretty confidence-inspiring way to see some things you might not otherwise get to see.
If you're a person who's like me, and you've got loads of street riding experience but very little dirt- or trail-riding experience, you might be surprised by how much fun you can have with a Can-Am Canyon. Even if you hadn't really thought of yourself as a three-wheeler rider before, give it a try. It may just surprise you.
