Former Formula 1 Superstar Daniel Ricciardo Hospitalized After Motorcycle Crash: Report
According to a recent report, former Red Bull Formula 1 driver, Daniel Ricciardo, was hospitalized in Australia after crashing a motorcycle. His condition is unknown at present.
Doesn't matter who you are; motorcycles are dangerous. You could be at the top of the MotoGP game, and you'll still end up in the hospital with a collapsed lung or worse. They are rather unforgiving, even if you know what you're doing.
And that is, reportedly, the case with former Red Bull Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo, who left the sport last year, but has been playing with motorcycles in recent months.
Unfortunately for him, however, despite being a multiple Formula 1 race winner and one of the last great late brakers, the Aussie has supposedly found himself the wrong-way-up on two wheels, landing him in the hospital after a motorcycle accident earlier this week.
He's reportedly OK, but a broken collarbone and other unspecified injuries are said to be the extent of his crash.
According to Planet F1, which first reported on Ricciardo's crash, "Daniel Ricciardo has suffered a minor injury following a motorcycle accident in Australia earlier this week. The 8-time grand prix winner was riding a dirt bike in northern Queensland when he came unstuck on Thursday...Ricciardo is believed to have picked up a collarbone injury due to a motorcycle accident. Ricciardo was riding through the Daintree in northern Queensland when he suffered the injury, although details on the exact nature of his accident have not yet emerged."
The outlet goes on to report that Ricciardo seems to have been taken to Mossman Hospital in Queensland, where he's undergoing treatment for his injuries, and is supposedly "in good spirits." What else would you expect from the man who loves a shoey and nicknamed the honey badger? The man can't help but smile even when everything has gone wrong for him.
Ricciardo's mishap is more prophectic, however, as when he was still at Red Bull and paired up with Max Verstappen, Max has predicted Daniel's injury after someone asked the Aussie what his perfect day in Australia would be with Max. At the time, Daniel said ripping around his farm on 110cc dirt bikes, to which Max replied, "And then we call Red Bull and we're like: 'Argh, we just had a shunt. We can't do the next four races because Daniel's collarbone has gone!'"
I didn't have Verstappen being a soothsayer on my Bingo card, yet here we are.
Hopefully, Danny gets healed up quick and back on a bike soon, and his injuries aren't too bad. I mean, who else is going to make us wonder why he's posing with a grizzly bear in Alaska?
