Stop Riding These 2025 Kawasaki KX 450s Immediately, There's a Crash Hazard
An engine part can fail on certain KX 450 competition bikes.
Kawasaki is recalling certain 2025 KX450, KX450SR, and KX450X competition and cross-country models due to the possibility of a crash hazard. On affected bikes, the crank shaft primary gear may fail, which could increase the risk of a crash.
Around 3,400 units may be affected, according to Kawasaki Motors USA's records. The recall states that customers should immediately stop using the recalled motorcycles until they're able to see their local authorized Kawasaki dealer for recall service. This service will be provided free of charge to affected customers, and will involve a technician replacing the faulty primary gear with an entirely new one.
The following VIN ranges are believed to be affected, according to Kawasaki's records. You should be able to find your VIN on your bike on the right side of the head pipe on your frame.

As of April 24, 2025, Kawasaki has received no reports of incidents or injuries related to this issue. The recall was issued in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, and is recall number 25-238.
Concerned customers can call Kawasaki Motors USA's customer service hotline at 1-866-802-9381 between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pacific from Monday through Friday. Customers may also visit the official Kawasaki Motors USA recall website here to find more information.
The bikes in question were on sale through authorized Kawasaki dealers across the US from about June 2024 through March 2025. If you have one of these bikes, or you know someone who does, hopefully you and anyone you know who has one can get this issue repaired quickly so you can get back out and enjoy your bikes.
