I Hate April Fools, So Here's 20 Minutes of On the Limit Isle of Man Onboard
The day sucks, as does anyone pretending it's fun.
It's not funny. It's not cute. Your story about some asinine thing that's completely made up is dumb. And you should feel bad about yourself for pushing it out into the ether. Yes, I get that we try to be a welcoming bunch here at RideApart, but this is my one exception: April Fools' "pranks."
I hate them.
Over the decades I've been writing about the industry, I've seen everything from manufacturers. Fake products that could've been cool, and trash things that should be yeeted from our collective memories. I was even around when Volkswagen stated with a straight face for weeks that it was changing its name to "Voltswagen" and then, after so much pressure, both outside and in, said it was a joke. They got so much shit for that stunt, and deservedly so.
And so, over the years, I've developed just an absolute hatred toward this idiotic holiday where folks now get to queue up some trash-ass "AI" system, type in a few words about a fake product, and then send it out to writers and the general public to pretend it's real and have "fun." I'm here to tell you it' ain't.
As you might expect given the above diatribe, we won't be posting anything from manufacturers about silly April Fools' stunts. We won't be posting anything about new products that aren't actually real. We won't be tricking our readers with a "Jonathon, Janaki, EJ and Robbie have flown off into the sunset to go capture Burmese Pythons in the Everglades and are handing the keys over to Tom Hardy who's said to be turning the site into a destination for all things Frankie Pulitzer" today.
Instead, I'm going to give you 20 minutes of unadulterated Isle of Man awesomeness in the form of onboard of Davey Todd just absolutely blitzing the mountain course. Because, and I'll say this again for everyone in the back, April Fools sucks.
