Get past all the hipster PR terminology and you'll find some pretty cool pieces of gear from Alpinestar's latest collection. Just like the Oscar series of the '70s, the new Oscar by Alpinestars collection mixes style and protection.

The current offering in the Oscar Line are four jacket styles (including a women's cut), one denim offering and a selection of gloves and boots. Follow the link to see the entire collection. It's luckily not just a series of "motorcycle-like" gear, but legit protection with armor.

Alpinestars called on artist, and motorcycle ambassador Ornamental Conifer to paint some original paintings and one Oscar Monty Jacket to help introduce the new series.

According to Alpinestars, "Renowned for his subversive whimsy and moto-inspired wit, Ornamental Conifer conjured the tongue in cheek yet poignant : 'FREEDOM EARNED FROM THROTTLES TURNED."
