Uber Snowmobiles Are About To Be A Thing At The Milan Winter Olympics

If you've taken Uber rides in the past, by now you're well aware that your mileage may definitely vary, just like any rideshare or taxi experience. Now, I've mostly had good luck so far, but I think it's understandable that I definitely raised an eyebrow when I saw that Uber Snowmobiles are about to be a thing at the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics 2026.
Unlike cars or motorcycles, snowmobile operation doesn't require a license, so what's the process for ensuring your snowmobile operator knows what they're doing, and hopefully is even pretty good at it? If you're the Olympics organizers, you hook up with one of the premiere snow sport tour companies in Cortina d'Ampezzo to offer such a service, that's what.
Uber apparently coordinated with a local company called Snowdreamers, which offers all kinds of snow-based activities and experiences, from ski lessons to snowmobile tours when you're in the area. That's how, for the first time ever, an actual Uber Snowmobile service is about to come to fruition in a very limited time and place.
Backcountry Bonanza
The rides will be available in Cortina d'Ampezzo in one-hour increments on select dates throughout February 2026. Riders will be fully outfitted with safety equipment, and will ride with a professional driver in the saddle. Each sled can take two riders, and according to Uber, bookings at any given time will be capped at eight participants. Riders will be able to book Uber Snowmobiles using the Uber app, as they do for normal rideshare vehicles.
Here's the extra cool part, if you're already going to be in the area: The Uber Snowmobile rides will be free of charge on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of February. Signups are first-come, first-served, and can be reserved in advance; however, it seems very likely that the available slots are going to fill up fast.
