Someone Just Stole $100,000 Worth of Polaris RZRs From a Dealership
And the cops are wondering if the thieves are set to strike again...
It doesn't take many of today's off-road, go-fast UTVs to total $100,000 worth of machines, but the result is still eye-opening when that kind of merchandise gets snatched straight out of a showroom in a brazen heist. But that's exactly what happened, according to the police in Holland, Michigan, a few weeks ago.
The scene of the crime was Village Motor Sports in Holland, as an unknown number of suspects broke into the powersports dealership and made off with four Polaris RZR side-by-sides, state the local sheriffs. A number of other machines showed damage consistent with the thieves attempting to steal those machines as well, but clearly couldn't get it done.
But what's interesting about the crime is that investigators are looking into whether this particular incident could be tied to a string of other crimes throughout West Michigan.
According to the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, "The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of four Polaris RZR Sport Side-by-Sides from Village Motor Sports, located at 13035 New Holland St, Holland, MI 49424. The theft occurred around 4:46 AM on Monday, May 19, 2025, and the total estimated value of the stolen vehicles is over $100,000. We are asking for the public’s help."
From my time covering the automotive side of things, I recall that Michigan in general was a high vehicle theft area, as Kia and Dodge-brand products were high among the thefts. Hellcats, and their engines, were in particular demand.
However, powersports machines usually work on coded keys, so the fact that the thieves were able to somehow bypass that security feature is an interesting one, though it could mean that they figured out how to access the machines' keys within the dealership.
The sheriffs are asking for folks to reach out with any information on thefts and contact OCSO or Silent Observer at 1-877-88-SILENT (745368) or online.
