Your Retro Modern Bike Deserves A Gorgeous Retro Modern Helmet, Doesn't It?
Three words: Magnetic goggle attachment.
You many not be familiar with Mârkö Helmets unless you live in Europe, but if this design is anything to go by, they're worth at least taking a look. To be totally clear, this isn't a review; we haven't tried this helmet for ourselves. But as fans of a cool retro gear aesthetic with modern safety standards in mind, it's definitely an eye-catching design.
The Mârkö Helmets Full Moon 2 is a full-face helmet with instantly appealing classic good looks. Unlike some retro-styled helmets, it also meets both ECE 22.06 and DOT standards, so it's ready to protect your head on at least two continents.
Features-wise, the Full Moon 2 has a fiberglass shell, removable and washable antibacterial and moisture-wicking helmet liner, standard double-D-ring chin strap, and the visor is Pinlock-ready. The helmet also has an intercom slot inside, so it's ready for you to plug your favorite headset in to chat with your buddies (or just listen to navigation or music).
Besides its general good looks and the multiple colors/finishes that are available, another cool thing about this design is that it's ready for you to pair a set of magnetic googles with it. Granted, as a longtime eyeglass wearer, I don't know if any of the magnetic goggles available are sized to accommodate eyeglasses underneath. But if that's not a concern for you, then it's definitely a cool option to have for added retro style points.
Available sizes range from XS to XXL. What does that mean in terms of actual measurements? According to the size chart, it'll fit a 53/54 centimeter head for the XS one, all the way up to a 63/64 centimeter head for the XXL. It's not clear how accurate this sizing is, but hopefully wrapping a quick tape measure around your head and seeing what you come up with is all that's between you and the retro modern helmet of your dreams.
Well, that and the €399 (including VAT) MSRP. That's about US $433 at the time of writing, in case you wondered. Mârkö also says that if you purchase a helmet from them online and it doesn't fit, they will be happy to exchange it for a different size for free within 30 days of purchase.
The company's been around for a bit, and also makes a number of other helmets for motorcycles, bicycles, e-bikes, and scooters. Some are retro, some are modern, and some are a bit of both; there are also some kids options here to peruse as well. If you're looking for something a little bit different in styling from many other options on the market, these might be worth a look as you gear up for a new season of riding.
