To Your Groms! Barber Museum Plans Small Bike Festival For 2019

Lovers of of small displacement bikes and riders of the tiny but mighty, I am calling out to you! Leeds, Alabama’s Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum has something in the works to celebrate and pay tribute to small-displacement bikes and their legacy with a new event added to its lineup and coming in 2019. To your Groms, Z125s, and Van Vans!

The Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum is one of those places that should be on every rider’s and motorsports enthusiast bucket list. The Alabama-based museum doesn’t limit itself to its amazing collection that covers the history of both four and two wheels—it also has a racetrack and enjoys putting it to good use by organizing enthusiast and owner-oriented events every year. The latest addition to its long list of festivals and riding events will be a small bore-specific event.

Coming on June 7 through the 9, 2019, small bikes classic and new will have the spotlight at the Barber Museum. The definition of “small bore” is rather flexible and while the premise of the event favors displacements of less than 200cc, according to the museum’s Facebook page, no bike will be turned down—this is, after all, a celebration of all things tiny and everyone is welcome to partake.

While a schedule of the activities has yet to be released, visitors will be invited to put their ride on the track. The racing will be overseen by SFL MiniGP that will also provide the riders with all the rules and regulations.

Bikes of all shapes and sizes are welcome to join. It’s time to dust off that little early-60s Super Cub, 1920s Royal Enfield 225cc, Aprilia RS4 50, or Spree and take it out for the day. More details surrounding the event are expected to be announced at a later time and a dedicated Web page will give the full rundown. Until then, start planning! This has road trip written all over it.
