A 20-year-old man from Luzerne County, Philadelphia, Bryce Wolf, was recently killed in a hit-and-run crash. These types of incidents basically always involve a person void of human decency, but this particular crash was even worse, and worse still considering the lengths Wolfe went to to stay safe on the roads.

The incident took place last Wednesday while Wolfe was riding a motorcycle on Kelly Drive at around 11:15 pm. Wolfe was struck by a white SUV, which police suspect was attempting an illegal turn onto Reservoir Drive. Investigators suspect the driver tried to merge back into traffic after failing to complete the turn, at which point the driver hit Wolfe.

What makes this hit-and-run even more egregious is that authorities allege the driver didn't stop after the collision, and instead dragged Wolfe for more than a mile before he was separated from the vehicle near Fountain Green Drive, before the SUV fled the scene. Wolfe was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center with a fractured leg and head injuries, although he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Initially, Wolfe was placed in critical condition, but was pronounced dead before 5 am on Thursday. He had recently completed his sophomore year at Temple University's Fox School of Business, but also worked as a motorcycle safety instructor. In fact, at just 20 years old, Wolfe had already instructed a Philadelphia police officer, making him one of the youngest motorcycle instructors. Of course, these incidents can happen to any rider, but when it happens to someone who happens to be a safety instructor, it seems more shocking.

What do you think?

He loved helping everybody," his mother, Lori Wolfe, said, "and he thought it was very important to teach people how to be safe on the road." Lori added, "He never went out on that bike without full gear... He would say, 'You dress for the slide, you don't dress for the ride.'"

Police believe that the white SUV has damage to the driver's-side front wheel well, fender, and/or driver's-side door and may have broken glass on the driver's side. Investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward and are asking local body shops to be on alert for a white SUV with possible driver's-side damage. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS. Wolfe's family is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the driver's arrest.
