Every Other Brand Can Go Home, Cardo Just Totally Won April Fool's Day
Let's be real, a lot of April Fool's Day jokes aren't very funny and may even be annoying, but Cardo kinda lowkey knocked it out of the park.
One generally accepted rule about jokes is that if you have to explain them, they're not funny. And that's one major reason why they take skill to really hone and deliver well.
Luckily for Cardo, it seems like someone there (maybe several someones) have the requisite skills on tap. Like many brands do, the company took the time to craft a special April Fool's Day joke to post online for the annual April 1 holiday. But unlike many other brands, Cardo's hits a nice balance of being clever, heartwarming, and hilarious at the same time.
The more riders I meet, the more I realize how many of us are animal people. We love our non-human companions, we want the best for them, and we will absolutely take them out for a ride if they seem like they're going to enjoy it. I mean, there's a reason that there are competing brands of dog goggles out there, and it's not just because entrepreneurs gotta make that cash.
Enter Cardo's PackDog Pro comms system landing page, which cleverly mimics the type of features blurb that accompanies its popular PackTalk Pro comms line meant for human riders to use with each other. Take a careful look and read through the text; there's literally nothing that's not pitch-perfect about it. From the name to the dry, factual delivery, and of course including the very clear confirmation that it's only an April Fool's joke (for now), it's absolutely spot on.
More than just being funny, it also shows something seriously important about Cardo, and that's that the brand clearly knows its audience. Another unspoken rule of comedy is that it's most impactful when it makes you feel seen, because then it actually sticks in your mind and sits there for more than just the time it took you to read/see/hear the joke.
The day might be over for this year, but every other brand now has an entire year to catch up. Get to work!
