Now’s Your Chance To Own a Michael Schumacher’s Race Bike, Price Is Suspiciously Fair
Am I wrong, or is it hard to argue with the price?
Anything touched by the hand of F1 legend, Michael Schumacher instantly goes up in value. But if the object is a track-ready, fully operational, Honda CBR1000RR dripping in aftermarket parts, well, now that's something special. This two-wheeled track day weapon wasn't just touched by Schumacher; it was his personal track day weapon.
Holzhauer Racing Performance (HRP) converted this road-spec 2010 Honda Fireblade to a race-spec bike for Schumacher, and it was a one-off build. There's no need to doubt that this was Schumacher's bike, as there are plenty of pictures on file that show Schumacher riding the bike.
Setting this bike apart from the rest is an ECU managing traction control, wheelie control, and spin control. It also features some special components, such as an airbox, oil cooler, racing handlebars, a quick shifter, and an Akrapovič Titan exhaust system. And they're just the parts that are listed; the full sheet is available to view on the file that comes with the bike.
To pick up a CBR1000RR in this condition is rare, but for it to be loaded with add-on one-off race parts from HRP is even rarer. Throw on the fact that it was Schumacher's personal track bike and, well, you get the gist. To top it off, the odometer reads just 3,752 kilometers (2,331 miles).
Remember James Toseland's 2007 Championship-winning WSBK Fireblade was up for a shade under $200,000 not that long ago. So, keeping that in mind, take a guess at how much Schumacher's bike is expected to fetch before I tell you.
This Fireblade is expected to fetch €25,000 - €35,000 ($29,500 - $41,000 USD) at auction, which seems like a steal to me. Included in the sale is a Schuberth signed helmet and a signed pair of motorcycle gloves. The only slight catch is that the bike hasn't been used in quite a while, so you'd need to get it inspected and serviced before hitting the track.
