Honda hasn’t given its flagship sportbike much love in recent years. The Fireblade is a little long in the tooth and it feels like it’s a generation behind the competition. Honda, though, has a habit of long lulls of apparent inactivity followed by a massive shunt forward. My money is betting that we’ll see such a jump with this new model. Rumors have included active aerodynamics, and that would be spectacular to see on the production model, but even without that, there’s the 214 horsepower on tap, and svelte 442-pound chassis. Not to mention the ground-breaking third “R” in its name.
