What's so special about a small dual-sport, especially when Kawasaki already has the KLX 250? The KLX 230 is an all-new model for 2020. In the absence of the dearly departed KLR 650 (Rust In Pieces), this is the latest and greatest dual-sport from Team Green. It has a brand new fuel-injected 233cc engine with a six-speed transmission (my KLR could definitely use that sixth gear). It's also the first Kawasaki dual-sport to gain optional ABS. Despite its advances, it remains air-cooled, perhaps to avoid the extra weight and complexity of water cooling on a more off-road oriented bike. I also can't help but wonder if we might be seeing a glimpse of what could potentially be coming in a replacement for the KLR 650.
