If you can imagine the center of gravity of your motorcycle as a point inside the bike itself, anything you do to move your own weight away from that point will change the dynamics and the handling of your motorcycle. The further away you lean, the more the bike will lean opposite you. This works in both directions: if you counter-lean while going through corners, that is, if you sit up and push the bike down into the corner under you, you’re going to be scraping hard parts in a hurry. This is not the way to make it successfully around an unexpected sharp corner.
