Ben Hardy is one of the unsung heroes of the California chopper scene. He's also the man who built the iconic Captain America and Billy bikes for the 1969 Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper flim Easy Rider. Along with Cliff Vaughs, who we'll talk about in a minute, Hardy put two of the most famous movie bikes together and received almost no recognition for his work. He was a pretty well-respected name in the local California bike scene, though, and from his little shop on E. Florence in South Central Los Angeles he turned out rad bikes and mentored dudes like Sugar Bear. You can read more about Ben in Bryan's great biography of the man here.
