A manufacturer giving you money to encourage you to get a part fixed on your bike following a recall? That’s exactly what Suzuki did and at this point, the company is only a step away from rolling out the red carpet and offering the open bar to lure Gixxer owners into the dealers following the master cylinder recall. The manufacturer just pimped its offer to current owners to make sure no recalled bike goes unchecked.
Already in September, the company announced a fairly generous compensation program for 2004-2013 GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 and 2005-2013 GSX-R1000 owners who would get their bike services at the dealer to make sure the recalled part was checked and replaced if required. The $100 prepaid Visa card was to be handed on a first come, first serve basis to “offset the inconvenience to its valued customers.”
It sounds like Suzuki still has some of these prepaid cards burning its fingers because it just upped the ante on its offer by throwing in free pickup and delivery of the motorcycle. You can’t show up at a Suzuki dealer to get the recall completed on your Gixxer because of time of weather? No hay problema, amigo! Suzuki will arrange for your precious baby to get picked up, fixed, and dropped back off again. The only “heavy lifting” you’ll have to do is make a phone call.
“With free pickup and delivery we can help customers who may have weather concerns or other obstacles preventing them from getting their motorcycles to the dealership for the recall service,” explained Steve Muthig, SMAI Vice President of Service.
Just like the prepaid Visa card incentive, the complimentary pickup service will be offered until November 30, 2018. Transportation can be arranged by contacting the Suzuki Customer Service Department at (714) 572-1490.
The company published the recall and started contacting owners on September 1, 2018 to have the the master cylinder inspected and possibly fixed. In fact, it has been discovered that the piston inside the cylinder tends to corrode, which reduces braking efficiency.
