There was some Internet excitement over the past few days regarding MV Agusta's upcoming releases: seems that pics of the Italian company's Dragster 800 RR were leaked to at least two websites, and yes, we were bummed we weren't one of them.

MV Agusta has two new variants of their Brutale line, and they're both pretty sick. The Brutal 800 RR and the Brutal Dragster 800 RR are set to be formally rolled out at the EICMA expo next month, but following the leaks the brand decided to post the news, specs and pics on their website. Here's a quick look at both bikes.

MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR

A step up from both the Brutal 675 and the standard Brutale 800, the Brutal 800 RR   is powered by MV Agusta's calling-card inline three; the Brutale 800 RR's power plant gives the bike more kick than the previous 800, according to MV Agusta - 140 hp at 13,100 RPM, with 86 Nm of torque at 10,100 RPM. The Brutale 800 RR features a electronic injector system with 6 injectors, two per cylinder (models other than the 800 RR and the Dragster 800 RR, including the standard Brutale 800, have a single injector per cylinder). Power also is enhanced thanks in part to a redesigned airbox. According to MV Agusta, these mods "provide smooth, progressive output at low and medium RPM without sacrificing power at peak revs". All all-Brembo brake system and a Bosch 9 Plus ABS system with rear-wheel lift mitigation are standard. Dry weight on the bike is said to be 370 pounds. The Brutale 800 RR will come in two color options: Pearl Shock Red/Pearl Ice White (pictured above) and Metallic Avio Grey/Carbon Metallic Black.

MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RR

If you're looking for something a little more fancy, there's the Dragster RR version of the Brutale 800. The chief differences here are aesthetics: the Dragster RR features what MV Agusta is calling "stoplight burner styling"; highlights are those fat rims and spoked tires (the color options are the same as the Brutale 800 RR, but those rims look pretty good in white, we must say). Performance characteristics all look to be the same.

Both bikes offer some interesting control options for riders. Power can be regulated  via MV's Motor and Vehicle Integrated Control System, a ride-by-wire system that gives riders four ignition maps and eight levels of traction control. The big development here, though, is the Quickshifter EAS 2.0 system on both bikes. It allows both clutchless upshifting and downshifting, giving MV Agusta the first to offer an electronically-assisted downshifting function in this segment.
