You may or may not know that RideApart is a part of the Motorsport Network – a sprawling family of websites that includes some particularly quirky family members.

We here at RideApart are quirky in our own way, and, of course, we like to see ourselves as the crown jewel in the shining tiara of the network, but we’ll admit that one of our favorite sites is ModernLook. It’s a shopping site, of sorts, selling… uh… everything. And we mean everything.

Want to drink beer from a Viking horn? No problemo, ModernLook’s got you covered.

Want an ultra-sexy custom built around a Harley-Davidson Street 750 engine? ModernLook is your hook-up there, too.

Anyway, we spotted this sexy machine today, which the site describes as “the result of a hybrid between a Cagiva Ala Azzurra 350 cc and a Ducati Pantah TL.”

The custom bike, called the Sputafuoco (which means “bootstrap” in Italian, apparently) is inspired by Cagiva bikes of the 1980s. Cagiva is an Italian brand that, like pretty much every Italian brand, has a history of dramatic rise and fall. In the 80s the company was riding the crest of a wave, buying up the Ducati, MV Agusta, and Husqvarna names, among others. Things had spiraled downward, however, about a decade later. The acquired names were sold off and these days Cagiva limps on by selling 50cc and 125cc bikes mostly in Italy.

This bike lovingly recalls the company’s heyday.

According to the description: “The motorcycle features a Ducati vintage front light with integrated speedometer, Dunlop tires, custom pipes, handmade leather seat, fenders, brackets. Featuring a Ducati Pantah TL tank, handmade aluminum gas cap and sides.”

The bike’s price appears to have been slashed quite a bit recently, but will still set you back roughly US $14,500.
